Summary Title

License Reciprocity: Emergency Medical Services Provider Responding to Mutual Aid Request

Summary

If an individual holds a valid out-of-state license, permit, or certificate that allows the individual to provide medical care as a first responder or emergency medical technician in that state and is providing care in response to a request in Wisconsin for interstate mutual aid, the individual does not need a Wisconsin-issued license, permit, or certificate.

(c) Notwithstanding par. (a), a person may act as an ambulance service provider, emergency medical technician, or first responder without a license, training permit, or certificate described under par. (a) if all of the following apply: 1. The person holds a valid license, training permit, certificate, or other credential allowing the person to act as an ambulance service provider, emergency medical technician, or first responder in another state. 2. The person is acting in response to a request for mutual aid and responding from the state in which that person holds a license, training permit, certificate, or other credential allowing the person to act as an ambulance service provider, emergency medical technician, or first responder
